This is a terrific organization that gives grants and technical assistance to grassroots organizations combating poverty in the U.S. I have been involved with their community investment program, which enables Jewish institutions and individuals to invest as little as $1,000 in loan funds that support community development in low-income areas.

Supports sustainable development and women's empowerment in the developing world. Also the American Jewish community's main force working to end the genocide in Darfur. AJWS also has alternative spring-break and long-term skilled volunteer programs.

Epilogos is a New Hampshire-based volunteer project serving the people of San Jose Villanueva, El Salvador. It is rooted in the work of two area residents who had worked there in the Peace Corps, and returned thirty-five years later.
